The Televisual Village Fete is the place to reconnect, share ideas and enjoy an afternoon and evening with friends from across the production, post, VFX and technology community.

And if you've been before, you already know.

REGISTRATION IS ESSENTIAL AS THIS EVENT WILL BE OVER-SUBSCRIBED

The community's summer gathering evolves

The Televisual Village Fete has historically brought together senior business, creative, technical and operational talent from across post, VFX, broadcast and studios with PPEs, PPSs, VFX Supervisors and consultants alongside the UK’s foremost post and VFX technologists.

As the event has grown – last year welcoming 600 guests - it has become increasingly clear that the conversations shaping our industry extend well beyond post and VFX. This year I’m extending the invitation to Heads of Production, Producers, Production Executives, Heads of Technology and Production Managers from production companies, broadcasters and streamers alongside senior freelancers. What unites everyone attending is a leadership role within production, post or technology and a desire to engage with peers on the future direction of the industry.

About registration and invitations

THE PERFECT LOCATION

The fete takes place in the serene and beautiful Regent’s University Gardens towards the Southern tip of Regent’s Park.

Regent’s University is well served by public transport and easy to get to from anywhere in London or coming into any of the main rail stations. Baker Street and Regents park tube stations are both within 10 minutes’ walk. For those coming from Noho and even Soho, you can walk there within half an hour. The short stroll through Regent’s Park is a pleasure of itself and the venue very easy to find.

The gardens and location are perfect in just about every respect.

FOOD & DRINKS

This year has the widest selection of drinks to date with:
* Televisual’s own twist on Pimm’s sponsored by Tara, Sean and Katherine at Editshare
* Ice cold beer from Lee, Chris, James and the Jigsaw24 Media crew
* HHB’s JJ and Lexie will again be serving chilled Champagne
* Find the widest selection of premium gins with the expert counsel of Seagate’s Andy and CCK’s Frank
* A wide selection of non-alcoholic drinks will also be available.

More delicious street food than ever before including JamonJamon’s legendary Spanish paella by way of Portobello Market for the first time. Plus
* Wood-fired pizza rarely comes out as well as Lorenzo’s, this year sponsored by Nick from Salon
* Paul from Medialease is offering chicken and seafood paella from long-running Portobello favourites, JamonJamon
* freispace’s Leo is bringing Berlin to London with currywurst and assorted sausages.
* Adam from Big Pic Media and Qumulo bring truly authentic burritos and tacos to the menu
* And Matt and Rachel from Digital Garage are 100% in line with the retro summer vibe by bringing an old-school ice cream van (with new-school environmental credentials).

DIVERSIONS & ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR

The fete always channels the inner child in all of us and this year we have the very best diversions and fairground attractions.
* Whales and minnows alike can spin and win without fear of loss with Escape Technology’s Jason and Lee on the roulette wheel
* While pool sharks and those willing to give it a go can compete for the village fete’s greatest accolade with Tony, Jason and the team at Altered Images
* Alistair is bringing the largest Slot Car circuit you’ve seen for a long while all the way from Düsseldorf. (Slot Car is very similar to Scalextric, but you probably knew that.) Elements completes the sense of retro Formula 1 by offering a shot of ice-cold Jäger to steady your nerves
* The LucidLink Table Tennis Tournament must surely be the year’s ultimate contest of hand-to-eye coordination. Find Alex and bring out your professional ping pong player
* ERA’s Sean and Sammy will levitate your competitive streak with Air Hockey
* Sohonet’s Damian, Liv and friends bring the most - and least - competitive Table Football League
* Marquis’ Liz will test your nerve with a giant wire buzz
* And if all of the above sound too technical Hiscale and Backlight invite you to kick a sticky football at a vast inflatable darts board. (Or perhaps it’s a tiny target and I’m setting myself up for a Spinal Tap moment.)

A special mention for the excellent Guy from AKA who is supporting the event with logistics.

A VILLAGE FETE SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE A HEART

Whether it’s dislocation in Ukraine, starvation in Gaza or tackling the pandemic in Sudan, Médecins Sans Frontières offers critical humanitarian aid and Televisual is proud to support their cause.

If giving for its own sake isn't enough of an incentive, the prizes are considerable. You have incredibly good odds of winning a magnum of Nyetimber from Simon from AJA, RHG and Simon from pixitmedia, Tim from GB Labs or Graham and Petra from ASG. Gavin from Catalyst is offering a vintage magnum of Nyetimber with six glasses as a gift set. If you haven’t yet tried Nyetimber, it is - whisper it to your French friends - better than most expensive Champagnes. Duncan from Tuxera is bringing two Cocktail Kits with Finnish gin, lemons, honey and instructions. Seagate’s Andy is also bringing two cooler bags brimming with fizz to give away and Gavin and Ramona from Catalyst Finance have another magnum of Champagne to win

tanooki’s Klaf is probably bringing a kadai (so as to confuse you about the prize, although once understood you’ll want one. Just ask Nick from Salon.). Frank and Carlo from CCK have a 2TB Ragnarok God of War LE Gaming Drive which is either something that you really want or a perfect gift for a gamer. Top marks go to Soho Editor’s Brian for offering free training or a freelance editor (worth £500!) and with a bottle of bubbles, to Cinelab’s Adrian for putting up a Super 8 camera with reels of film and free processing and to Mike from Eizo and Shaun and the CVP crew for our headline prize of a CG2700X professional colour management monitor, worth over £2,500. Ooooh!

THIS YEAR’S WRAP FILM

Once again we’re pushing the wrap film technology envelope by filming the event with Sony’s Ocellus camera tracking mounted on a mobile Sony Burano with the cuddliest in-camera AR. And we have a mobile, single operator, two-camera with DIT station set up. You’ve almost certainly never seen anything like this.

A COMMUNITY EVENT

But most of all this event is about YOU.

Whether you work in production, post production or VFX, for a broadcaster, streamer, studio, indie or technology company, or as a freelance executive or consultant, the Televisual Village Fete increasingly brings together the UK's finest creative, production, operational, technical and business talent responsible for delivering some of the country's most ambitious television and film projects for what promises to be an inspirational and lively afternoon and evening.

This year, Heads of Production, Production Executives, Production Managers and Producers will join the community in greater numbers than ever before, creating an even richer mix of production, post and VFX expertise.

You can catch up with more of your immediate peers than you might find at any other UK event and within a memorable, fun and relaxed atmosphere. There were 600 guests with senior business, operational, technical or creative roles from over 188 companies ranging from streamers to indies and post to film stages, as well as 100 production and post-centric freelancers attending last year’s event. We are expecting more again this year.

BEST-IN-CLASS TECHNOLOGISTS

One of the things that makes the Village Fete unique is the opportunity for production leaders, post specialists, VFX talent and technology experts to meet in one place.

The Televisual Village Fete is supported by many of the UK’s most brilliant M&E technologists from the industry’s leading vendors and resellers who will be on hand to discuss assistive and generative AI, the latest workflows and technology choices.

The Televisual Village Fete is your opportunity to explore future production workflows with the very best in the business. Whether you want to know how to harness assistive AI, explore virtual production or simply reduce your overheads through automation, the fete is the perfect place to start those discussions. If the person you’re talking to doesn’t have a clue, the person behind you probably does.

Sponsors include AJA, AKA, Altered Images, ASG, Backlight, Big Pic Media, Catalyst Finance, CCKtech, CVP, Digital Garage, Editshare, Eizo, Elements, Escape Technology, FilmLight, freispace, GB Labs, HHB, Hewlett Packard, Hiscale, Jigsaw24 Media, LucidLink, Marquis, Medialease, pixitmedia, Salon, Seagate, Sohonet, Sony, tanooki, Tuxera and Tyrell.

REGISTRATION IS ESSENTIAL AS DEMAND EXCEEDS CAPACITY

A LITTLE BIT OF FORMALITY

Demand for places significantly exceeds capacity and registration is required for all attendees.

If you’ve received an invitation, please register as soon as possible.

Following some unfortunate incidents last year (and not involving Televisual), dogs are no longer welcomed by the venue. (My Archie is devastated as he has enjoyed previous years’ attention, but sorry, boy.)

One of the joys (for some) of being outdoors is smoking, but please only puff away in the designated spaces, which on this occasion are so much more pleasant than hanging out with the traffic.

MY NAME’S NOT ON THE LIST?

If you believe you or a colleague or peer should be attending, please email me, James Bennett at event@televisual.com and include your name, job role, company and email address and I'll review your request and come back to you as soon as I’m able.

From humble beginnings

The Televisual Village Fete was first staged in 2021 in Montague Gardens by the British Museum. The event followed the COVID lockdowns when nobody wanted to gather indoors and meeting outside created a safe space. The name came from a chance conversation with Guy Wilson when I outlined the ‘garden party networking’ plan and Guy replied ‘that sounds like a village fete’. The name and format stuck and the event has grown ever since. The fete stayed at Montague Gardens for 2022 before outgrowing the venue in 2023 when we hosted it at Shoreditch Gardens before moving to Regent’s University Gardens in 2024, which came with covered decking and a vast purpose-built pavilion.

Here are some photos from those nascent years which involved erecting an ever-increasing number of gazebos.
